Great list of amazing places

I like the way the book is organized. In rank order. It also includes a map of the world with the top 100 places marked. This was helpful when I knew I was going to be in one place in the world due to my job and where were the closest cool things to check out.
There is just a paragraph or so on each place. Just enough to give a quick summary which means you don't have to read through a bunch of stuff you don't want to to find the places your interested in. Definitely need to have you internet close by to dig deeper into the places that seem interesting.
If you are looking for interesting places to visit around the world but not sure where to go next then give this a try.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. We have each been in the travel industry for nearly 30 years and traveling is our favorite thing to do. I really like the book, but it doesn't include a photo of every location listed in the book--maybe includes photos for 2/3 of the locations mentioned. The destinations are listed in order of their ranking from a poll Lonely Planet conducted. I would have preferred the locations grouped by geographical area, and then had many more maps provided.

This is a high quality hardcover book that makes a great gift for anyone interested in travel or just beautiful photographs from around the world. The book ranks Lonely Planet's top 500 places to travel around the world and provides a brief summary for each location. The book is filled with colorful photos of landscapes, landmarks, and people that keep the reader glued to each page. It also comes with a pull out world map that charts the locations of the top 100 places to visit. Great for making a travel bucket list or just for casual viewing on your coffee table.
